Three in four security leaders report breaches tied to machine identities

Three out of four (75%) security leaders in Singapore have faced security incidents or breaches tied to compromised machine identities over the past year, according to CyberArk.
These breaches have had significant operational impacts, including delays in application launches (60%), customer-facing outages (44.64%), and unauthorised access to sensitive data or networks (61%).
The findings highlight the increasing vulnerability of machine identities, which now outnumber human identities in many organisations.
With machine identities growing rapidly, 91% of security leaders in Singapore expect their numbers to continue expanding over the next year, exacerbating security challenges.
As artificial intelligence (AI) and AI agents rise in prominence, 87% of Singapore’s security leaders believe that machine identity security will play a critical role in safeguarding the future of AI.
However, the survey also revealed that many organisations' security programs are still immature, with gaps in strategy and lifecycle management.
