Singapore records lowest Steam breaches in APAC

11 million gaming account credentials were leaked worldwide last year, the study noted.

Singapore reported just 4,262 compromised Steam accounts in 2024 — the lowest figure among Asia-Pacific countries tracked in a new study by Kaspersky.

The number is less than half that of Sri Lanka (10,877) and a fraction of Thailand’s staggering 162,892 breaches, which topped the regional list.

The firm revealed a broader cybercrime trend: 11 million gaming account credentials were leaked worldwide last year.

Of these, 5.7 million Steam accounts were compromised by infostealer malware — malicious software designed to harvest login credentials, payment data, and other sensitive information.

Another 6.2 million accounts from platforms such as Epic Games Store, Battle.net, Ubisoft Connect, GOG, and EA app were also affected.

Kaspersky’s analysis of malware log files showED the Philippines (93,273) and Vietnam (87,969) trailing behind Thailand as the top three most affected APAC countries. At the opposite end, China (18,786), Sri Lanka, and Singapore recorded the lowest breach numbers.

With close to 1.8 billion gamers, APAC is the largest and most influential gaming market in the world — but that dominance also makes it a prime hunting ground for cybercriminals.
