Manufacturing output drops 10.8% in May

Excluding the biomedical manufacturing segment, the output would’ve fallen 13.0%. 

Singapore’s manufacturing output fell 10.8% in May 2023 compared to the same month in 2022, according to the latest data released by EDB Singapore.

Compared to April, output is also 3.9% lower in May. Excluding biomedical manufacturing, May’s manufacturing output would have fallen 13.0%.

Biomedical manufacturing and transport engineering recorded output increases in May, increasing by 4.4% YoY and 28.4% YoY.

On the other hand, decrease in output was recorded in general manufacturing (-0.3% YoY), chemicals (-9.5% YoY), precision engineering (-10.5% YoY), and electronics (23.0% YoY).
