Manufacturing sector cautious amidst market headwinds
The chemicals cluster is the most pessimistic.
Business sentiments in the manufacturing sector are more cautious with the ongoing trade tensions and tariff uncertainties, according to an EDB Singapore report.
Around 13% of manufacturers expect business conditions to improve, whilst a weighted 19% foresee a weaker business outlook.
Within the sector, the transport engineering cluster is the most optimistic, with 14% of firms anticipating positive business prospects in the next six months.
A net weighted balance of 4% of firms in the general manufacturing cluster anticipate business conditions to improve.
Meanwhile, 8% of firms in the biomedical cluster foresee a deterioration in business outlook. Both the pharmaceutical and medical technology segments also foresee more challenging business conditions.
Similarly, business sentiment in the electronics cluster has turned negative (9%) whilst the chemicals cluster is the most pessimistic (22%).
