
Why Singaporeans are investing in money market fund amidst volatile markets
Investors are allocating 70% of their funds portfolio to money market funds.
Money market fund was selected by Singaporeans as the top investment tool to hedge inflation.
Based on a study by wealth management platform, moomoo SG, Singapore investors allocate an average of 70% of their fund portfolios to money market funds.
By age and gender, Gen X males had the highest allocation of 86.2%, whilst Gen Z females had the lowest, at 57.3%.
Most investors cited investment returns (76.4%) as their main reason for choosing funds, followed by fees and handling charges (45.6%), the reputation of the fund houses (42.6%) and liquidity (35.4%).
Meanwhile, the most popular equity sectors amongst Singapore fund investors were energy, technology and ESG.
