DPM Lawrence Wong named deputy chairman of GIC

He has served as GIC director since 1 November 2018.

GIC has appointed Lawrence Wong as deputy chairman, effective 1 October.

Wong is currently Singapore’s deputy prime minister and minister for finance. He is the chairman of the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) and chairman of Singapore Economic Development Board’s International Advisory Council.

In his new role with GIC, Wong is expected to assist the chairman in leading the board, as well as help oversee GIC’s long-term asset allocation and portfolio performance.

Wong has served as GIC director and chairman of the investment strategies committee (ISC) since 1 November 2018 and 7 July 2023, respectively.
