Daily Briefing: SG studies UN climate change findings; 70% of Singaporeans are full vaccinated

And Singaporeans return to restaurants as the dine-in limit is lifted.

The Centre for Climate Research Singapore is now looking into the findings of the United Nation on its climate change report.

The UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change released the first of its three reports that details the scientific assessment of climate change.

Moreover, in line with the Singapore Green Plan, the government will partner with Singaporeans and businesses to achieve the national agenda towards sustainability.

“We will also leverage climate science to understand the effects of climate change on Singapore and press on with efforts to mitigate and adapt to them,” the Ministry of Sustainability and Environment and Meteorological Service Singapore said.

Singapore moved closer to vaccinate 80% of its population by September target as it fully vaccinated 70% of its population.

In addition to this, the country has also inoculated some 79% of its population with their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

“Vaccination remains a key enabler in our fight against COVID-19. We urge all who are eligible to be vaccinated,” the Ministry of Health said in a statement.

Singaporeans are returning to food and beverage establishments as the restrictions on dine-in setups, starting 10 August.

Groups of five will be allowed to dine in groups, provided they are fully vaccinated; whilst everyone would be allowed to dine in, in groups of two at hawker centres and coffee shops.

Should the COVID-19 situation remain stable, Singapore is expected to further ease restrictions, allowing event sizes and capacity limits to further increase on 19 August.
