Geo Energy records 25% YoY decline in net profit in H1 2025

Excluding a one-time gain in 2024, net profit increased by 76% in H1 2025.

Geo Energy has reported a net profit of $25.72m (US$20.1m) in the first half of 2025 (H1 2025), down by 25% year-on-year (YoY).

This is due to the one-time gain on the sale of rights to receivables, net of tax of $19.7m (US$15.4m) that was reflected in the net profit of H1 2024.

Excluding this one-time gain on sale, the group’s net profit for the period increased by 76% YoY.

Geo Energy has reported that its revenue in H1 2025 increased by 71% YoY to $370.3m (US$289.5m) while gross profit rose 65% YoY to $57.45m (US$44.9m).

The group has nearly doubled its coal sales volume to 6.3 million tonnes in H1 2025 due to improved coal access.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

If you've been wondering whether SBR could work for your company — yes, probably.

A lot of the companies we partner with started as readers. They'd been following our coverage for a while, saw their own customers and competitors in it, and eventually asked the obvious question: could we do something with you? The answer is usually yes. The shape of it depends on what you're trying to do.

The options are broader than most people assume — thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. Some partners use one channel; most use a mix. We figure out the right combination by starting with your brief, not with our rate card.

So if the question has been on your mind, here's the easy way to ask it.

We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how. It's a better use of everyone's time.
