Gov’t reshuffles cabinet

Gan Kim Yong will be Deputy Prime Minister.

As part of the cabinet reshuffle, Minister for Trade and Industry Gan Kim Yong will assume the position of Deputy Prime Minister.

Gan will also be the chairman of the Monetary Authority of Singapore and assume responsibility for the Strategy Group within the Prime Minister’s Office.

Lee Hsien Loong will take over the Senior Minister position but will remain chairman of the Research, Innovation and Enterprise Council.

Low Yen Ling, Desmond Tan, and Rahayu Mahzam will step up as Senior Ministers of State.

In addition, Murali Pillai will be Minister of State in the Ministry of Law and Ministry of Transport, whilst Shawn Huang will be Senior Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Finance.
