MOM to form Workforce and Skills Singapore in 2026 merger

The new board aims to simplify training and jobs access.

The Ministry of Manpower announced that Workforce and Skills Singapore (WSSG)—a new statutory board—will be established in the third quarter of 2026 as part of a merger of SkillsFuture Singapore and Workforce Singapore.

This follows Prime Minister Lawrence Wong's Budget 2026 speech in February.

Dilys Boey, the current Chief Executive of Workforce Singapore, will lead the new board. Its mandate will cover skills development, job opportunities, and career support for workers, as well as workforce development for employers.

Dr Tan See Leng, Minister for Manpower, said that integrating skills training and employment facilitation aims to provide workers with simpler access to career guidance, training, and job opportunities through a single portal.

Combining career and skills data is intended to offer clearer insights into labour market opportunities, he added.

For employers, WSSG is expected to streamline support for hiring, training, and workforce transformation, while reducing skills mismatches.

The board will also expand Singapore’s career health initiatives, moving beyond reactive job matching to proactive career planning with tools such as the Careers & Skills Passport and CareersFinders.

The formation of WSSG is part of broader government efforts to adapt the jobs and skills ecosystem to a changing labour market.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

The people you want to reach are already in this room.

Every quarter, SBR lands on the desks of the founders, CFOs, and directors running Asia's most consequential companies. Every day, they open our newsletter and read our website. It's a room that took twenty years to build — and it's the one most of our partners are trying to get into.

The good news is that the door is open. We work with companies on thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The shape of the right partnership depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If you have something this room should know about, tell us. We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
