NTU, WHO launch three-year project to modernise global food safety

This supports the WHO Global Strategy for Food Safety 2022–2030.

Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and the World Health Organization (WHO) have launched a three-year project to strengthen global food safety risk assessment.

The initiative supports the WHO Global Strategy for Food Safety 2022–2030 and seeks to modernise existing frameworks through innovative technologies.

The project will apply New Approach Methodologies (NAMs), including artificial intelligence and digital modelling, to improve how countries assess risks in new and emerging food systems.

The partnership was announced at the WHO-NTU Joint Workshop on NAMs in Future Food Safety Risk Assessment, held at Royal Plaza on Scotts. A signing ceremony took place on Wednesday.

Professor William Chen, director of the Future Ready Food Safety Hub (FRESH) at NTU, and Dr Simone Moraes Raszl from WHO signed the agreement. Singapore Food Agency Chairman Lim Chuan Poh witnessed the signing.
