NYC, KPMG, IPRS launch Gen2050 youth action programme
The programme seeks to enable participants to create impactful, scalable projects addressing key societal issues.
The National Youth Council, KPMG in Singapore, and the Institute of Public Relations of Singapore have jointly launched Gen2050, a new youth action programme designed to empower young people to develop solutions addressing social sustainability challenges.
According to the organisers, Gen2050 aims to equip more than 1,000 youths from diverse backgrounds with practical skills such as social entrepreneurship, problem solving, stakeholder management, and strategic communication.
The programme seeks to enable participants to create impactful, scalable projects addressing key societal issues.
Gen2050 consists of two main components. The first is a Structured Accelerated Programme (Track A), where 100 selected participants will undergo four core training modules led by industry experts.
These modules cover identifying problem statements, developing proposals for social change, managing stakeholders, and delivering persuasive project pitches.
Participants will also have access to professional networks, mentorship, and seed funding of up to $5,000 to pilot their projects. Outstanding initiatives may progress to national youth leadership programmes or receive additional industry support.
The second component, Youth Dialogues (Track B), is open to all youths and offers opportunities to engage directly with policymakers, industry leaders, and peers on issues such as artificial intelligence’s impact on employment, equitable access to digital skills, mental wellness, and innovation.
Insights from these sessions will feed into the development of the SG Youth Plan.
