Real estate luminaries John and Andy Lim are amongst Forbes Asia's Heroes of Philanthropy

Forbes acknowledged the father-son tandem for establishing the Lim Hoon Foundation.

John Lim, cofounder of ARA Asset Management, and his son Andy Lim, group CEO of JL Family Office, made it to Forbes Asia's Heroes of Philanthropy list for 2022.

The magazine acknowledged the father-son tandem for establishing the Lim Hoon Foundation, which provides scholarships to so-called sandwich students.

Sandwich students are "driven but disadvantaged youths in Singapore who don’t qualify for most of the country’s grades-based financial support."

To date, the foundation has granted over 1,600 bursaries totalling about $1m to students from primary school to pre-university levels.

The foundation also donates to Singapore Management University (SMU). In April, it contributed $3m to set up JLFO-LHF Scholarship where 12 students receive four-year scholarships worth $40,000 every year.

Some 50 former and present SMU students have received scholarships from the foundation over the past decade, said Forbes.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

The people you want to reach are already in this room.

Every quarter, SBR lands on the desks of the founders, CFOs, and directors running Asia's most consequential companies. Every day, they open our newsletter and read our website. It's a room that took twenty years to build — and it's the one most of our partners are trying to get into.

The good news is that the door is open. We work with companies on thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The shape of the right partnership depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If you have something this room should know about, tell us. We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
