RoboCluster initiative targets sector-wide enhancements
This will bring together experts to develop solutions to boost robotics capabilities in the industry.
Singapore announced the rolling out of the RoboCluster initiative that aims to maximise the potential of robotics in aiding various sectors.
The implementation, led by the National Robotics Programme, was announced by Minister of State for Trade and Industry Alvin Tan during the opening of Lionbot’s robotics factory.
He said the initiative aims to bring together public sector researchers from A*STAR and the institutes of higher learning, end-users, and robotics companies to co-develop solutions with economic potential.

The project will cover four areas where robotics can help in increasing productivity, efficiency, and safety, starting with the facilities management sector this year. Other sectors included are manufacturing, healthcare, and logistics.
Tan noted the use of robotics in facilities management is already increasing, specifically in surveillance, security, delivery, and concierge services.
“We will identify new use cases for collaborative R&D projects, work together to develop innovative solutions, and translate and commercialise them into industry applications,” the official said.
Also part of the plan are designing adoption roadmaps, and facilitating design thinking workshops, curated R&D projects and deployment opportunities.
Tan encouraged companies to join the initiative as the global robotics market revenue is seen to reach around $90b by 2028. Singapore also has Asia’s second highest robot density, he added.
