Singapore launches digital twin to boost port efficiency

Singapore announced the official launch of the Maritime Digital Twin—a dynamic, real-time virtual model of the Port of Singapore.

Singapore is stepping up its push for maritime innovation and decarbonisation with the launch of two major initiatives aimed at enhancing port operations and supporting the transition to cleaner energy.

Speaking at the opening of Singapore Maritime Week 2025, Minister of State for Transport Murali Pillai announced the official launch of the Maritime Digital Twin—a dynamic, real-time virtual model of the Port of Singapore.

Developed by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) in collaboration with GovTech, research institutes, and industry players, the digital twin is designed to improve navigational safety, operational efficiency, and environmental sustainability.

“The digital twin will integrate data from various sources to enable scenario simulations, including dispersion modelling to inform safer bunkering of alternative fuels such as methanol and ammonia,” Mr. Pillai said.

The system will be rolled out to pilot users later this year, with plans for progressive industry-wide adoption and eventual integration into Singapore’s Green and Digital Shipping Corridors with global partners.

In a second announcement, the Minister revealed that MPA and Enterprise Singapore will be launching Technical Reference 136 this week. The new standard provides guidelines for the development and operation of charging and battery swap systems for electric harbour craft.

The people you want to reach are already in this room.

Every quarter, SBR lands on the desks of the founders, CFOs, and directors running Asia's most consequential companies. Every day, they open our newsletter and read our website. It's a room that took twenty years to build — and it's the one most of our partners are trying to get into.

The good news is that the door is open. We work with companies on thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The shape of the right partnership depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If you have something this room should know about, tell us. We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
