Three Wilmar subsidiary executives named in rice quality scandal

The suspects are PT PIM's president director, factory head, and quality control head.

The Indonesian National Police Food Task Force has officially named three employees of PT Padi Indonesia Maju (PT PIM), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Wilmar International Limited, as suspects in an ongoing investigation into rice quality violations.

The individuals named include the president director, factory head, and head of quality control of PT PIM. They are alleged to have been involved in the distribution of rice that failed to meet national packaging and quality standards.

This development follows an earlier announcement by the Task Force on 1 August 2025, when three employees from another, unrelated Indonesian rice producer were also named as suspects in a similar case involving the alleged sale of substandard or adulterated rice.

Wilmar Group, which was first linked to the investigation in a public statement on 24 July 2025, has denied all allegations and reiterated its commitment to cooperate fully with authorities in order to clear its name.
