SG proposes int'l committee for SICC to hear global civil appeals
The committee will have ad hoc members from foreign courts referring appeals
Singapore has proposed to establish the International Committee of the Singapore International Commercial Court (SICC) to hear prescribed civil appeals and related proceedings from prescribed foreign jurisdictions.
Under the proposed bill, the International Committee will adjudicate transnational commercial disputes and have jurisdiction over cases that are international and commercial in nature.
Committee members will include Supreme Court judges, International Judges from the SICC, and ad hoc members from foreign courts referring appeals.
The Singapore International Commercial Court Bill was read in Parliament for the first time on 14 October.
