Singtel’s Optus settles $83.4m fine over improper sales practices

Singtel's Optus Mobile has settled with the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission, agreeing to a proposed penalty of $83.4m (AUD100m) over improper sales practices.
The inappropriate practices occurred between August 2019 and July 2023. The penalty is fully provided for in the previous financial year ended 31 March 2025.
In addition, the Enforceable Undertaking requires Optus to implement measures, including changes to its retail processes, systems, and sales incentives.
