HDB’s BTO projects launched ahead of order

All of its seven projects are expected to complete between 2014 and 2015.

In the September 2011 launch of seven Build-To-Order projects, three projects attracted relatively low application rates:

a) Golden Peony at Jurong West, comprising 190 SAs, with an application rate of 0.6

b) Anchorvale Harvest and Fernvale Rivergrove at Sengkang, comprising 2,445 units, with an application rate 1.3

Based on past experience, these projects are not likely to achieve 70% take-up rate at the selection exercise stage. Nonetheless, in line with the new approach of building ahead of order, the HDB has proceeded to start the process of building all seven BTO projects. This will enable the applicants for the three projects to get their flats early and at about the same time as applicants for other BTO projects launched in this exercise. The tenders for five of the projects have been called. Tenders for the remaining two projects, Fernvale Rivergrove and Waterway Woodcress, will be called by the end of this month. All seven projects are expected to complete between 2014 and 2015.

HDB will launch another 4,200 BTO flats in Nov 2011 and 25,000 BTO flats next year.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

If you've been wondering whether SBR could work for your company — yes, probably.

A lot of the companies we partner with started as readers. They'd been following our coverage for a while, saw their own customers and competitors in it, and eventually asked the obvious question: could we do something with you? The answer is usually yes. The shape of it depends on what you're trying to do.

The options are broader than most people assume — thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. Some partners use one channel; most use a mix. We figure out the right combination by starting with your brief, not with our rate card.

So if the question has been on your mind, here's the easy way to ask it.

We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how. It's a better use of everyone's time.
