This chart by Edmund Tie shows that the majority of property buyers in 2019 were locals, with around 78% of total private home transactions were those with known resident status.
Meanwhile, the proportion of foreigner buyers saw a slight uptick in the last two quarters of 2019 at 7% per quarter.
Mainland Chinese buyers were said to contribute the highest proportion amongst foreigners, making up with 27.1% of transactions in 2019.
