First timer singles can now get 2-room HDB flats

Their monthly income must be up to $5,000.

According to Minister for National Development Khaw Boon Wan and Senior Minister of State Lee Yi Shyan, first Timer Singles aged 35 and above and earning up to $5000 a month will now be allowed to buy new 2-room flats directly from HDB.

This is targeted to be made available by the July BTO launch.

Continue ramp up of supply of new homes to help a significant number of first timers with 25,000 flats launched in 2013, up from the earlier announced 23,000 flats.

The government has announced that The Parenthood Priority Scheme, which gives married, couples with children more chances in getting a successful application for a flat, will be extended to pregnant mothers by the May launch of BTO flats.

Parenthood Provisional Housing Scheme (PPHS) will provide more housing options for first timer married couples looking at rental homes. The scheme has attracted 200 applications, and all these families will be able to move into their flats soon.

While this scheme is open to couples with or without children, couples with children will get priority.

With the delinking of BTO prices from the resale market, BTO prices have remained stable and MND has also moved to curb speculative demand in our property market.

38,000 HDB first timer families have benefited from new pricing policies.

These were all announced during the Budget 2013 debate.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

If you've been wondering whether SBR could work for your company — yes, probably.

A lot of the companies we partner with started as readers. They'd been following our coverage for a while, saw their own customers and competitors in it, and eventually asked the obvious question: could we do something with you? The answer is usually yes. The shape of it depends on what you're trying to do.

The options are broader than most people assume — thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. Some partners use one channel; most use a mix. We figure out the right combination by starting with your brief, not with our rate card.

So if the question has been on your mind, here's the easy way to ask it.

We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how. It's a better use of everyone's time.
