Singapore unveils masterplan for new HDB town in Tengah

It is estimated to provide about 42,000 new homes.

The Ministry of National Development is inviting Singaporeans to check out the Tengah exhibition at HDB Hub Sales Display Area as the masterplan for the newest HDB town has already been unveiled.

Minister for National Development Lawrence Wong revealed that the key driving planning concept behind Tengah is the creation of a “Forest Town,” with homes surrounded by lush greenery and nature.

“The upcoming new Forest Town, Tengah, will further raise the bar for public housing, with its fresh planning concepts, bold ideas and innovative designs,” Wong said.

Located in the western region of Singapore, Tengah is bounded by the Kranji Expressway (KJE), Pan-Island Expressway (PIE), Brickland Road and Bukit Batok Road. It is going to be Singapore’s 24th HDB town.

MND envisions the residential area to provide homeowners quality living in a myriad of amenities and green spaces.

The developments for Tengah will be rolled out progressively, with the first batch of flats to be launched in the Plantation District from 2018 onwards. When completed, Tengah is estimated to provide about 42,000 new homes. Of these, about 30,000 units will be for public housing and 12,000 units will be for private housing, HDB’s press release said.

The Tengah exhibition will be held from 9 to 25 September 2016 and will be opened daily, from 9am to 8pm. The public is encouraged to give their feedback on the HDB town.

The people you want to reach are already in this room.

Every quarter, SBR lands on the desks of the founders, CFOs, and directors running Asia's most consequential companies. Every day, they open our newsletter and read our website. It's a room that took twenty years to build — and it's the one most of our partners are trying to get into.

The good news is that the door is open. We work with companies on thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The shape of the right partnership depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If you have something this room should know about, tell us. We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
