CapitaMalls' Bedok Mall already over 99% leased 3 months prior to launch

According to a release, Bedok Mall, the first major mall in Bedok, announced that it is more than 99% leased – three months prior to its scheduled opening before Christmas this year.

New tenants signed with Bedok Mall since its topping out ceremony in May include Wingstop, a popular buffalo-style chicken wings franchise from the United States with over 580 outlets that is making its debut in Asia with the mall.

Guan Chee Hong Kong Roasted Duck, which started with a stall in Hougang coffee shop and subsequently found success with a food stall in six shopping mall food courts, will be operating its first standalone restaurant in Bedok Mall.

Another new retailer is Tim Ho Wan, touted as the world’s cheapest Michelin-starred dim sum restaurant which caused a stir among food-loving Singaporeans when it first opened here.

In Bedok Mall, Tim Ho Wan will open a 2,200 square foot restaurant on Basement 1. Tim Ho Wan’s expansion into Bedok Mall comes after it opened to rave reviews and long queues at Plaza Singapura in April, and followed up with a second restaurant at Toa Payoh ERA Centre.

To prepare for its expansion, Tim Ho Wan is planning to hire between 30 and 40 staff for its restaurants. To boost its recruitment efforts, Tim Ho Wan will be participating in the two-day Bedok Mall Job Fair taking place on 2 and 3 September held at the open space in front of Block 212 at Bedok Town Centre.

Senior Minister of State for Trade & Industry and National Development, Mr Lee Yi Shyan, who is also advisor to East Coast GRC grassroots organisations, will be the Guest-of-Honour at the launch of the job fair on September 2.

The Bedok Mall Job Fair is the latest in a series of retail sector job fair collaborations between e2i (Employment and Employability Institute) and shopping malls.

It is co-organised with CapitaMalls Asia and CapitaLand, the developers of Bedok Mall and Bedok Residences.

On offer at the job fair are more than 1,000 job opportunities with over 50 Bedok Mall tenants, who are recruiting for their upcoming stores at Bedok Mall and beyond. Positions available include front-line service staff, chefs and kitchen crew, data entry clerks, beauty therapists and managerial positions such as area managers and shop supervisors.
