Loh Khum Yean appointed MPA board chairman
He chaired the Parks Board and was deputy chairman of the MPA since February 2025.
Loh Khum Yean was appointed chairman of the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) board effective 1 December 2025.
Loh is currently the chairman of the National Parks Board and has been the deputy chairman of the MPA since February 2025, an announcement from the Ministry of Transport said.
Loh will take the MPA position from Niam Chiang Meng, who served nine years on the MPA board, first as deputy chairman from July 2016 and later as chairman from December 2016.
Under Niam’s leadership, the Singapore port became one of the top five ship registries globally, the ministry said.
Loh sat on the boards of the Land Transport Authority, Agency for Science, Technology and Research, the Health Promotion Board, and the National Library Board.
He was awarded the public administration medals in 2002 and 2011.
Acting Minister for Transport Jeffrew Siow appointed Loh to the MPA.
