Singapore, Australia ink MoU to create green, digital shipping corridor

They will develop eco-friendly fuel supply chains for the maritime industry.

Singapore and Australia inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to establish the Singapore-Australia Green and Digital Shipping Corridor (GDSC).

Under the MoU, the countries will collaborate with stakeholders to develop zero or near-zero greenhouse gas emission fuel supply chains for the maritime industry, including infrastructure development, standardization, and training implementation.

Additionally, the agreement aims to facilitate digital information exchange for efficient port clearance, calls, and vessel flow between the two nations. 

The partnership also involves coordination between the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore, Australian federal, state, and territory governments, and industry stakeholders.

Australia's potential as a green marine fuel producer aligns with Singapore's status as the world's largest bunkering and busiest transhipment hub port.
