Circle Line to be completed in October

Daily ridership for the 28 stations is pegged at 400,000.

Mr Lui Tuck Yew, Minister for Transport, said, “The Circle Line will enhance connectivity of the rail network, and bring about significant time savings for many commuters. For example, travelling from Bishan to Buona Vista will only take 26 minutes compared to 40 minutes today via the North South and East West Lines. Likewise, travelling from Farrer Road to Raffles Place will only take 25 minutes, instead of 40 minutes by bus today.”

He further noted that the full opening of the Circle Line is expected to relieve crowding along the North-South and East-West Lines by about 10 to 15 percent. Also, 17 more trains will be added by December 2011 along the NSEWL to increase capacity.
