ComfortDelGro to add up to $0.80 driver fee, raise taxi fares

The measures will be in effect from 24 March to 31 May.

ComfortDelGro will implement a temporary driver fee for app-based bookings and raise metered taxi fares from 24 March to 31 May 2026, as fuel costs rise amidst the ongoing international conflict.

A driver fee of $0.50 will be applied to fares below $15, whilst fares of $15 and above will incur a $0.80 fee.

All fees will go directly to drivers, Michael Huang, Head, Singapore Point-to-Point Mobility Business, ComfortDelGro.

Separately, metered fares will increase by $0.01 per distance-time unit across all taxi trips.

The adjustment applies to every 400 metres or 45 seconds for journeys below 10km, and every 350 metres or 45 seconds for trips exceeding 10km.

The company has also introduced a taxi fuel credit incentive programme from 15 March and is absorbing part of the increase in fuel costs at its pumps.

The National Taxi Association (NTA) and the National Private Hire Vehicles Association (NPHVA), both affiliated with the National Trades Union Congress (NTUC), said the measures would help offset rising operating costs for drivers.

Teo Siew Pan, Executive Secretary of the NTA, and Raven Lee, Executive Secretary of the NPHVA, said financial assistance schemes are available through their respective associations and the NTUC for members who require additional support.

The people you want to reach are already in this room.

Every quarter, SBR lands on the desks of the founders, CFOs, and directors running Asia's most consequential companies. Every day, they open our newsletter and read our website. It's a room that took twenty years to build — and it's the one most of our partners are trying to get into.

The good news is that the door is open. We work with companies on thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The shape of the right partnership depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If you have something this room should know about, tell us. We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
