ComfortDelGro clinches $38m site for $200m AI driving hub

The 30-year Choa Chu Kang project will replace the Bukit Batok Driving Centre with instructor-less training by 2030.

ComfortDelGro Corporation Limited will invest more than $200m over 30 years to build and modernise training facilities, technology, and operations at its Next-Generation Driving Centre (NGDC) in Singapore through its subsidiary, ComfortDelGro Driving Centre Pte Ltd (CDC).

CDC has secured a $38m site at Lorong Bistari, Choa Chu Kang, on a 30-year lease to develop the NGDC, which will replace the Bukit Batok Driving Centre by 2030.

The centre will occupy 24,889 square metres with a gross floor area of 72,500 square metres.

Facilities will include nursery circuits, heavy vehicle training for Classes 4 and 5 licences, simulators, classrooms, and a road safety gallery.

The NGDC will also deploy intelligent driving circuit technologies, including sensors, cameras, and AI-driven assessments, to allow more objective and independent training while reducing reliance on instructors.

“The Next-Generation Driving Centre will deliver technology-enabled training that benefits learners through more efficient and objective assessments, while contributing to safer roads in Singapore,” said Vincent Tan, CEO of ComfortDelGro Driving Centre.

“This long-term investment reflects our confidence in Singapore and our commitment to reinvest and build capabilities here,” said Cheng Siak Kian, Managing Director and Group CEO of ComfortDelGro.

Operations at the NGDC will begin in phases to maintain continuity for learners.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

The people you want to reach are already in this room.

Every quarter, SBR lands on the desks of the founders, CFOs, and directors running Asia's most consequential companies. Every day, they open our newsletter and read our website. It's a room that took twenty years to build — and it's the one most of our partners are trying to get into.

The good news is that the door is open. We work with companies on thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The shape of the right partnership depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If you have something this room should know about, tell us. We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
