Grab, WeRide to deploy Robotaxis, shuttles in Southeast Asia
The companies aim to complete the deal by H1 2026.
Grab is taking an equity stake in Chinese autonomous vehicle company WeRide, with plans to complete the deal by the first half of 2026, pending closing conditions and WeRide’s schedule.
The investment is part of a partnership between both companies to accelerate the deployment and commercialisation of Level 4 Robotaxis and shuttles in Southeast Asia, building on a memorandum of understanding signed in March 2025.
WeRide will integrate its autonomous driving technology into Grab’s fleet management, vehicle matching, and routing ecosystem.
The collaboration will also involve training and reskilling programmes for Grab’s driver-partners and local workers to prepare for roles in the autonomous vehicles industry.
