Public transport workforce to grow 4% by 2025: LTA
Currently, Singapore has 22,000 public transportation workers.
The Land Transport Authority (LTA) expects a 4% growth in Singapore’s public transport workforce by 2025.
Currently, the Lion City has 22,000 workers in the public transportation sector.
LTA derived its growth forecast for the workforce from plans under Industry Transformation Map (ITM) 2025.

Under the ITM, LTA will create 800 new jobs for its rail expansion projects, including Jurong Region Line and Cross Island Line development.
Since 2018, about 1,000 new jobs have been created in the rail sector.
To create a “future-ready” workforce, LTA will also work with the National Transport Workers’ Union and public transport operators to upskill rail workers to use new and emerging technologies.
Overall, LTA said the ITM will help Singapore’s transport sector “navigate through immediate challenges of manpower constraints and decarbonisation.”
