SBS Transit and French operator RATP Dev to operate Jurong Region Line
The passenger service is scheduled to open in three stages, starting in 2027.
SBS Transit and French operator RATP Dev have partnered to operate and maintain the Jurong Region Line (JRL) which will commence operations in three stages from 2027.
The Singapore One Rail (SOR) partnership has earned a nine-year license from the Land Transport Authority (LTA), with an option for a two-year extension, increasing SBS Transit’s rail network in Singapore from 83km to 107km.
The partnership marks Singapore’s first joint operation with a foreign operator.
The JRL will be Singapore’s seventh Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) line. It will span 24 stations connecting major sites in western Singapore including the Jurong Industrial Estate, Jurong Innovation District, Nanyang Technological University, and the Tengah new town.
SOR will leverage advanced technologies including condition monitoring, video and data analytics, and generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) to deliver safe, reliable, and sustainable train services.
It will also establish the flagship SOR Customer Experience Innovation Lab which will allow commuters to be involved in testing and improving new public transport solutions.
“We continue to be committed to investing in innovative and smart technologies to enhance the reliability, safety, and sustainability of our services. We aim to not only meet but also exceed the high standards expected by our commuters, providing a world-class metro service for all", Jeffrey Sim, group CEO of SBS Transit said.
