SBS Transit net profits dips 6.2% in Q1 2025

The group reported a revenue of $373.81m.

SBS Transit reported a profit after tax of $38.37m in the first quarter of 2025, a dip of 6.2% compared to the same period last year.

The group attributed the loss to lower interest income and higher tax expenses.

Revenue fell to $373.81m from $392.09m in Q1. Public Transport Services revenues fell to $19.49m due to lower service fee for bus resulting from the loss of the Jurong West Package from September 2024, partially offset by higher rail fare revenue. Other Commercial Services, however, increased to $1.21m due mainly to higher advertising revenue.

SBS Transit previously reported an increase in its full-year net profit attributable to shareholders of 1.8% YoY to $70.3m for FY2024.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

If you've been wondering whether SBR could work for your company — yes, probably.

A lot of the companies we partner with started as readers. They'd been following our coverage for a while, saw their own customers and competitors in it, and eventually asked the obvious question: could we do something with you? The answer is usually yes. The shape of it depends on what you're trying to do.

The options are broader than most people assume — thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. Some partners use one channel; most use a mix. We figure out the right combination by starting with your brief, not with our rate card.

So if the question has been on your mind, here's the easy way to ask it.

We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how. It's a better use of everyone's time.
