Chart of the Day: Here are the returns of the 5 biggest agri stocks in Q3

Wilmar’s returns hit 6.4%.

This chart from the Singapore Exchange (SGX) shows that Bumitama Agri is the best amongst the big five agri-stocks in terms of its returns that hit 9.2% in Q3. Meanwhile,First Resources and Wilmar followed with returns at 8.5% and 6.4%, respectively.

“These three plays averaged a total return of 8.0% over the quarter, reversing their negative returns in the first six months of the year,” SGX commented.

Japfa also saw positive returns of 3.1% whilst Olam’s returns sank to 3.6% in Q3.

According to SGX, five of the six billionaire agriculture plays including Wilmar, Olam, Golden Agri-Resources, First Resources and Bumitama Agri also have substantial exposure to the crude palm oil (CPO) market, which analysts suggest is on the cusp of a seasonal upturn.
