Golden Agri cuts emissions by 4.6% in 2025

The agribusiness also expanded its use of renewable energy, supply chain traceability, and support for smallholders.

Golden Agri-Resources (GAR) reduced its Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions by 4.6% YoY in 2025.

This marks the first full year of progress under its Collective for Impact sustainability framework. The framework focuses on three areas: Responsible Sourcing, Caring for Our Planet, and Empowering People.

Renewable energy accounted for 54% of GAR’s total energy consumption in 2025, whilst more than 90% of its upstream operations were powered by biomass from plantation waste.

GAR also reduced its Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 3.6% during the year through investments in three new methane capture plants, increased biomass energy use, and renewable infrastructure.

On supply chain transparency, GAR achieved 100% traceability to the mill for non-palm commodities under its Responsible Agri-Commodity Sourcing Policy.

The company also reached 100% “delivering” status for Indonesian palm sourcing under the NDPE Implementation Reporting Framework V5.8. Under the updated IRF V6.0 methodology, introduced in January 2026, GAR is at 82.6% “delivering” and said it remains on track toward its 2030 target.

GAR expanded its smallholder support in 2025, reaching more than 11,000 independent smallholders through its Sawit Terampil programme. The company is working toward a 2035 target of supporting 100,000 smallholders.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

The people you want to reach are already in this room.

Every quarter, SBR lands on the desks of the founders, CFOs, and directors running Asia's most consequential companies. Every day, they open our newsletter and read our website. It's a room that took twenty years to build — and it's the one most of our partners are trying to get into.

The good news is that the door is open. We work with companies on thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The shape of the right partnership depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If you have something this room should know about, tell us. We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
