Wilmar secures US$100m ESG-linked loan from Maybank

Maybank will lower the interest rates in tiers as Wilmar meets ESG goals.

Wilmar International Limited (Wilmar) has obtained a three-year, US$100m sustainability-linked loan from Maybank.

Under the facility’s terms, Maybank will lower the interest rate in tiers when Wilmar meets pre-determined Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) metrics.

“These targets include Wilmar’s internal key performance indicators as well as external benchmarking standards, one of which is continued inclusion in the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI) World Index,” Maybank said.

“Based on meeting long-term ESG criteria, the DJSI World Index represents the top 10% of the largest 2,500 companies in the S&P Global Broad Market Index,” Maybank added.

Wilmar remains the sole Singapore-incorporated company in the DJSI World Index's Food Products category, listed continuously since November 2021.
