SATS names ex-Cisco executive as chairman-designate

Outgoing chair Euleen Goh will be appointed as advisor to the chairman.

SATS Ltd. has appointed Irving Tan, who was chairman of Asia-Pacific, Japan, and Greater China at Cisco, as its chairman-designate and independent director.

He will replace Euleen Goh, who will then be appointed as advisor to the chairman effective 19 July.

The company said the appointment will allow Tan’s chairmanship to benefit from Goh’s experience in “steering the group’s ongoing transformation journey to create value for stakeholders.”

Prior to his new role, Tan was executive vice president for global operations at Western Digital and a top executive at Cisco. He took various management and leadership positions in the high-tech sector, and has decades of experience in sales and global operations, market transitions, and customer and government dynamics.

“I look to SATS continuing its ESG efforts to be a responsible corporate steward and playing a key role in bringing together the ecosystem to address the critical sustainability challenge,” Tan said. “I look forward to working with the SATS Board and Management to build on the strong foundations put in place over the years, to realise the tremendous potential that SATS offers going forward.”

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

If you've been wondering whether SBR could work for your company — yes, probably.

A lot of the companies we partner with started as readers. They'd been following our coverage for a while, saw their own customers and competitors in it, and eventually asked the obvious question: could we do something with you? The answer is usually yes. The shape of it depends on what you're trying to do.

The options are broader than most people assume — thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. Some partners use one channel; most use a mix. We figure out the right combination by starting with your brief, not with our rate card.

So if the question has been on your mind, here's the easy way to ask it.

We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how. It's a better use of everyone's time.
