Singapore Airlines passenger traffic up 4.8% in April

Passenger capacity also grew by 4%.

Singapore Airlines (SIA) Group saw a 4.8% increase in passenger traffic in April 2025.

The growth was supported in part by the shift of the Easter holidays from March 2024 to April 2025.

Passenger capacity rose 4%, pushing the Group’s passenger load factor (PLF) up 0.7 percentage points to 87.9%.

SIA and Scoot recorded PLFs of 86.9% and 91.4%, carrying a combined total of 3.4 million passengers, 6.4% more than last year.

Cargo demand grew in East and West Asia due to front-loading, although demand softened in the Americas and Europe.

Overall cargo load grew 4.0% year-on-year, but this lagged behind a 6.6% increase in cargo capacity, leading to a decline in the Group’s cargo load factor by 1.5 percentage points to 57.1%.

In service updates, Scoot launched new flights to Iloilo City in the Philippines, whilst SIA suspended its service to Houston, USA.

At April 2025’s end, the group’s passenger network covered 128 destinations in 36 countries, with SIA serving 78 and Scoot 72. The cargo network included 132 destinations in 37 countries.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

The people you want to reach are already in this room.

Every quarter, SBR lands on the desks of the founders, CFOs, and directors running Asia's most consequential companies. Every day, they open our newsletter and read our website. It's a room that took twenty years to build — and it's the one most of our partners are trying to get into.

The good news is that the door is open. We work with companies on thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The shape of the right partnership depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If you have something this room should know about, tell us. We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
