Tiger Airways to add 4 aircraft to Singapore fleet

Decision prompted by Asia Pacific aviation recovery and Tiger’s 52% increase in passengers.

Tiger Airways Singapore will be increasing its fleet of Airbus A320 family aircraft from the current 10 to 14 by December 2010. This increase will fuel the airline’s growth as air travel in Asia-Pacific recovers and as Tiger continues to attract more passengers, according to a Tiger Airways announcement.

Rosalynn Tay, Managing Director of Tiger Airways Singapore, said, "Signs from the industry and our own operations have been very encouraging, with growing passenger numbers at both Tiger Airways and Changi Airport. We have therefore decided to further expand our fleet, to ride the strong recovery of aviation in Asia-Pacific as well as meet the growing demand for our low, low fares."

For the 12 months to June 2010, 5.3 million passengers flew with Tiger Airways, an increase of 52% from the preceding 12 months. Load factor grew from 80% to 85% during the same period of comparison.
