Sembcorp to invest $10.5b in renewables

The company will deploy 10% of the capital into decarbonisation solutions.

Sembcorp will invest $10.5b in renewables as part of its five-year strategic plan to support global energy transition and sustainable development.

Of the total capital, the company will deploy 10%  into investments, including hydrogen-ready assets and another 10% into decarbonisation solutions. Sembcrop will allocate the remaining 5% to the Integrated Urban Solutions segment.

Under its 2023-2028 strategic plan, Sembcorp will also grow its gross installed renewables capacity to 25 GW by 2028.

Currently, Sembcorp has achieved 12GW of gross renewables capacity, which translates to 61% of Sembcorp’s energy portfolio.

By 2028, Sembcorp also hopes to halve its emissions intensity to 0.15 tCO2e/MWh from 2023 forecasted levels of 0.30 tCO2e/MWh.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

If you've been wondering whether SBR could work for your company — yes, probably.

A lot of the companies we partner with started as readers. They'd been following our coverage for a while, saw their own customers and competitors in it, and eventually asked the obvious question: could we do something with you? The answer is usually yes. The shape of it depends on what you're trying to do.

The options are broader than most people assume — thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. Some partners use one channel; most use a mix. We figure out the right combination by starting with your brief, not with our rate card.

So if the question has been on your mind, here's the easy way to ask it.

We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how. It's a better use of everyone's time.
