Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine wins at Singapore Business Review Management Excellence Awards 2025
LKCMedicine Cares is a reflection of its shared commitment to care, connection, and well-being within LKCMedicine.
Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine won Employee Engagement of the Year - Education in the Singapore Business Review Management Excellence Awards 2025. The award recognises the school’s LKCMedicine Cares initiative, which evolved from a health and wellness programme into a flagship employee engagement platform created by its staff, for its staff, fostering connection, inclusivity, and social impact.
Launched in July 2022, LKCMedicine Cares was initially introduced in response to the pandemic’s effects on staff well-being. Over the past two years, it has expanded in both scale and scope, transforming into a unifying force for the school’s employees across campuses. Participation grows steadily, with key events such as the annual Wellness Day now spanning a full day of activities focused on physical, mental, social, and financial health.
Their biennial Carnival Day, now rebranded as Fun Day, attracted more than 400 staff and their families, marking a 20% increase from 2023. Activities also extended to the Nanyang campus, ensuring that staff across both locations are equally engaged through quarterly workshops and festive gatherings such as Chinese New Year celebrations.
Coffee Chats and wellness workshops regularly reach full capacity within hours of registration, and many employees volunteer to join the organising committee. Feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with participants reporting improvements in lifestyle choices and workplace morale.
Senior leadership plays an active role in supporting the initiative, with management consistently attending key events and recognising its impact on workforce cohesion. LKCMedicine Cares became a mainstay in the school’s calendar and was identified by team leads at a recent retreat as one of the most influential programmes in recent years.
The initiative’s influence also extends beyond campus. Through its LKCMedicine Gives Back initiative, staff dedicated more than 200 volunteer hours to community causes, benefiting 220 children from the Children’s Cancer Foundation. Collaborations with partners such as the Singapore Association of the Visually Handicapped, Beyond The Label, Singapore Red Cross Academy, and Dover Park Hospice further strengthen the school’s engagement with society.
The Singapore Business Review Management Excellence Awards honours visionary executives, innovators, and high-performing teams, as well as initiatives that champion diversity, inclusion, employee engagement, and workplace well-being.
