Optro targets Asia growth with new Singapore regional hub

This comes amidst rising compliance pressure and digital risk across regional firms.

Optro has expanded into Singapore with a new regional hub as it looks to strengthen its presence in Asia Pacific and support enterprise governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) teams across the region.

The company, formerly known as AuditBoard, said the Singapore office will serve as its regional centre for APAC operations and customer support.

The expansion was announced at The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) International Conference 2026 in Singapore.

Optro, which describes itself as an artificial intelligence (AI)-powered GRC platform provider, said its system is used by more than half of Fortune 500 companies globally.

The move comes as organisations in the region face rising regulatory and operational risk linked to artificial intelligence, cybersecurity threats, and digital transformation.

Citing the Internal Audit Foundation’s Risk in Focus 2026: APAC report, Optro said 39% of organisations in the region identify digital disruption, including AI, as a major business risk, while 58% rank regulatory change among their top audit priorities.

Singapore’s role as a financial and technology centre was highlighted by the company as a key factor in the decision to establish a regional base in the city-state.

Optro said its platform provides tools for audit, risk, compliance, and information security teams, and that its expansion is intended to support organisations managing increasingly complex regulatory requirements.

The company also said it has integrated AI capabilities into its platform, including automated controls testing, which it describes as part of its “agentic GRC” approach.

Optro CEO Raul Villar, Jr. said the company aims to support risk teams facing growing compliance and governance demands across APAC.

Optro’s expansion also includes partnerships with consulting firms, intended to support internal audit and risk functions in the region.

The company recently acquired Midship, an AI-native controls testing platform, which it said enables automation of a significant portion of controls management processes.
