PropertyGuru Group honoured with two wins at SBR Management Excellence Awards 2024

The leading property technology company was awarded Employee Engagement of the Year and Team of the Year in their category.

With its accolades from the SBR Management Excellence Awards 2024, PropertyGuru Group highlights the success of its transformative employee engagement programme "Be More, Be a Guru" (BMBAG) and the team behind it.

Commitment to employees

BMBAG, a strategic programme designed completely in-house to enhance the employee experience and strengthen the company’s Employee Value Proposition (EVP), was launched internally at PropertyGuru Group in July 2024. The programme was introduced through an innovative campaign across the company’s regional offices, reaching over 1,500 employees.

BMBAG is built around 9 key “Moments that Matter” in the employee’s lifecycle, a framework developed from extensive internal feedback and external research. These Moments focus on pivotal touchpoints throughout the employee journey, providing Gurus (PropertyGuru employees) with tailored resources, tools, and support to co-create a workplace that fosters growth, well-being, and long-term success.

The working team took bold leaps in delivering a groundbreaking internal campaign, a first-of-its-kind at PropertyGuru. Anchoring the launch was the “Guruverse”, a bespoke virtual platform specially developed for this programme that allowed Gurus to explore BMBAG through interactive games, video content, and a robust online Knowledge Hub where they can learn more about the programme and the different initiatives under each Moment. The platform not only brings to life the Moments that Matter but also offers Gurus a personalised experience. One of the unique features of the programme is the creation of virtual lockers. Each Guru was provided with a virtual locker (hosted in Guruverse) which they can fill up with a variety of digital items, each associated with a particular Moment. Gurus can customise what their lockers look like as they earn items by unlocking Moments that Matter throughout their employee journey. This approach has helped make this EVP a uniquely dynamic one because it places Gurus at the very centre, as co-creators of their own meaningful employee experience at PropertyGuru.

The programme's teaser phase saw over 50% of the employee base logging in, with more than 500 active participants engaging in a leaderboard gaming challenge for exciting prizes. The overwhelming positive feedback from employees has affirmed the programme’s effectiveness.

Externally, the BMBAG launch has significantly strengthened PropertyGuru’s EVP and positioned the company as an employer of choice for top talent, contributing to an improvement in the company’s Glassdoor ratings. PropertyGuru further elevated its EVP through the launch of Guru Spotlight, which features employee ambassadors in a series of testimonial videos heavily promoted via social media.

The success of BMBAG underscores PropertyGuru’s commitment to its employees and its strategic vision for the future. The Employee Engagement of the Year accolade is proof of the company’s continuous efforts to put Gurus first.

BMBAG team

The BMBAG team displayed creativity, dedication, and resilience in delivering a multi-office launch that engaged over 1,500 employees. They successfully created an engaging platform despite ambitious timelines and technical hurdles. Their determination to overcome setbacks and continually push the boundaries of what was possible embodied one of PropertyGuru's core values: “Push beyond good.

Beyond the technological achievements, the team excelled in communication and engagement. Their ability to deliver an impactful, memorable launch that aligned with PropertyGuru’s values of “Create what’s next” and “Respect and care for each other” has set a new standard for future employee engagement initiatives.

The success of the BMBAG programme earned the team behind it the Team of the Year award in their category, a prime example of what can be achieved when innovation, collaboration, and a strong sense of purpose come together.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

If you've been wondering whether SBR could work for your company — yes, probably.

A lot of the companies we partner with started as readers. They'd been following our coverage for a while, saw their own customers and competitors in it, and eventually asked the obvious question: could we do something with you? The answer is usually yes. The shape of it depends on what you're trying to do.

The options are broader than most people assume — thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. Some partners use one channel; most use a mix. We figure out the right combination by starting with your brief, not with our rate card.

So if the question has been on your mind, here's the easy way to ask it.

We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how. It's a better use of everyone's time.
