Tiger Brokers (Singapore) Pte. Ltd. scores win at SBR Management Excellence Awards 2024

The global online broker received the Executive of the Year - Digital Trading Platform accolade in recognition of its CEO, Ian Leong.

Tiger Brokers (Singapore) Pte. Ltd. was lauded at the SBR Management Excellence Awards 2024, serving as a testament to the company’s exceptional growth and market leadership in the digital brokerage industry under Leong’s guidance.

Leong, who took the helm over a year ago, led Tiger Brokers to become a trusted platform for investors in Singapore. One in three adults in the country now uses the Tiger Trade app, which is proof of the success of his strategy in addressing the needs of local investors.

A standout achievement during Leong’s tenure is the launch of the BOSS debit card, a groundbreaking product that offers cashback in fractional Tesla shares. This offering—which is a first of its kind—has resonated with modern and tech-savvy investors, driving a 258% increase in transaction value and a 42% rise in user growth quarter-on-quarter as of Q2 2024. The card’s popularity amongst younger investors, particularly those under 35—who make up nearly 60% of new users—reflects Leong’s keen insight into the preferences of the next generation of traders.

In addition to the BOSS card, Leong has introduced several other key innovations to meet the demands of the local market. One of these is the Cash Boost account, which supports Contra trading, a strategy highly favoured by Singaporean investors. This move has positioned Tiger Brokers as the first online brokerage in Singapore to offer this service.

Leong also prioritises community engagement. To celebrate Singapore’s National Day, Tiger Brokers offered zero-commission trades and exciting rewards, including Nvidia shares and exclusive staycations.

Since establishing its Singapore headquarters in 2020, Tiger Brokers has seen exponential growth, with Singaporean users now representing the largest share of the company’s total funded clients. The company has also achieved a 539% compound annual growth rate in local account openings, outpacing other key markets such as Hong Kong, the US, and Australia. Leong’s focus on delivering tailored solutions for Singaporean investors has played a pivotal role in this remarkable expansion, solidifying Singapore as Tiger Brokers’ most active region.

Leong’s visionary leadership, commitment to innovation, and strategic focus on community engagement made him a strong contender for the Executive of the Year - Digital Trading Platform award.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

If you've been wondering whether SBR could work for your company — yes, probably.

A lot of the companies we partner with started as readers. They'd been following our coverage for a while, saw their own customers and competitors in it, and eventually asked the obvious question: could we do something with you? The answer is usually yes. The shape of it depends on what you're trying to do.

The options are broader than most people assume — thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. Some partners use one channel; most use a mix. We figure out the right combination by starting with your brief, not with our rate card.

So if the question has been on your mind, here's the easy way to ask it.

We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how. It's a better use of everyone's time.
