CMI transforms the telco industry with innovative telco solutions and unmatched cross-border connectivity

Developing a business from the ground up is no mean feat but Ms. Adelyn Ong, Country Head and Managing Director of China Mobile International (CMI) Singapore, did not hesitate to take on the challenge of building CMI’s presence in Singapore.
With her deep understanding of customers’ needs and years of experience in the global telecommunication business, Adelyn rapidly expanded CMI Singapore’s suite of products and services to give their customers better value and options. It was also under her leadership that the Singapore team was able to tailor their available resources and capabilities to not just meet, but often exceed customers’ needs, leading to several business wins.
Today, CMI Singapore has a full suite of Carrier & Enterprise solutions and provides a full range of comprehensive international telecommunications services that include International Ethernet lines, IEPL/IPLC, MPLS, Internet data centers, ICT solutions, voice, mobile data, roaming, IOT solutions and other value-added services. To enhance the global backbone network, CMI also invests in an international submarine cable system. Currently, CMI has a total of 5POPs set up in Singapore with interconnecting dark fibre rings and 3 submarine cables linking Singapore to the Eastern and Western regions, providing businesses around the world a platform to connect their international business. An international data center was also officially launched in 2019 and in 2020, a new Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) by CMI – CMLink Singapore was born.
For this, Adelyn was awarded Executive of the Year - Telecommunications at the recently concluded SBR Management Excellence Awards 2020. Now in its 6th year, the awards event lauds individuals, innovators and teams whose initiatives have brought tangible business gains for the success of their companies.
“Business needs are highly evolving today, brought about by a myriad of factors like technological advancement, fast changing consumer lifestyle, globalisation and digitalisation, says Adelyn, “As a leader, it is pivotal that I set the direction for my team, identify areas of growth, create innovative offerings as well as guide and add value to their work.”
It is with this thought that CMI launched the IMDA-BCA Green Mark Platinum certified data center that houses more than 2,100 racks in 2019 to provide high-speed, low-latency international connections to customers in Asia Pacific. This was followed by CMLink Singapore in March 2020 – a MVNO dedicated to enabling Chinese immigrants, students and professionals living in Singapore to easily stay connected with loved ones back home.
A CMLink Singapore no contract SIM-only plan comes bundled with cross-border data that can be used seamlessly in Singapore, mainland China and Hong Kong. It also offers unique features such as bundled IDD calls to mainland China and Hong Kong as well as SMS forwarding from China Mobile mainland China numbers. All CMLink plans come with free Call Number Display, free incoming calls, free bundled SMS and free SIM registration.
Adelyn is a professional executive with many years of experience in the Asia-Pacific telecommunications sector. Prior to joining China Mobile International, she was a multi-awarded executive at Fortune 500 telecommunications company. As Managing Director of CMI Singapore, she is responsible not only for the growth of the Singapore market but also for expansion in Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Brunei and Maldives. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce Major in Total Quality Management & Marketing from Edith Cowan University.
