Schenker Singapore Pte Ltd snags the Logistics and Robotics Awards

The Red Lion is strategically located in the Airport Logistics Park of Singapore (ALPS Free Trade Zone) at Changi Airport. It sets a new standard in combining the world’s most advanced technological developments with the highest levels of sustainable warehouse management for its customers. Powered by the Next Generation Warehouse Management system fusing robotics and autonomous equipment with harmonized workflows, the seamless integration between air freight and warehousing operations has enabled a reduction of import and export turnaround time by up to 60%. This makes Red Lion the ideal facility for high velocity, time-sensitive and high-value products.

Complementing its technological advancements is the company’s early investment in reskilling and training of its workforce to be equipped with vital skills in a knowledge and data-driven era. Red Lion has provided a good platform for staff to work alongside new automated processes to meet the demands of complex Value added customization services within an increasingly shorter lead time .

One of the disruptive technologies is the world’s first Tr3bot (3 Synchronized Robotic Arms), which was co-engineered by Schenker Singapore. The Tr3bot is an AI-enabled system with self-learning capabilities that displaces manual labelling processes with robotics engineered for optimum precision and flexibility to accommodate high variation orders with zero down-time.

A focus on green logistics is also another key design element of this facility. Red Lion is the largest warehouse to be awarded the LEED gold v4 certification in South-East Asia, and the first in Singapore. The facility also boasts the Green Mark Platinum certification.
Powering the intricate automation systems is a collection of 1440 photovoltaic solar panels, enabling energy savings of 34% and cutting CO2 emissions by 2076 tons per annum.

Schenker’s first branch in Singapore was set up in 1970.
