Transamerica Life (Bermuda) appoints Marc Russell Lieberman as CEO

The appointment is effective immediately.

Transamerica Life (Bermuda) Ltd. (Transamerica Life Bermuda), one of Asia’s leading High Net Worth life insurance providers, today announced the appointment of Marc Russell Lieberman as President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective immediately. Marc succeeds Damiaan Jacobovits de Szeged, who will be returning to Aegon’s Corporate Center to lead a key project to accelerate the execution of Aegon’s strategy.

Mr Lieberman will be responsible for driving Transamerica Life Bermuda’s overall growth, strategic planning, and the management of the company’s day-to-day operations across Asia. He will report to Douglas C. Henck, Chairman and CEO of Aegon Asia.

“Marc has a strong track record of success and his breadth of experience will be invaluable in sustaining our growth in Asia and beyond,” said Mr Henck. “In the last five years, Transamerica Life Bermuda has achieved significant growth in sales, business operations, and market share. I look forward to working with Marc to build on this success.”

Prior to joining Transamerica Life Bermuda, Marc most recently served as CEO of MetLife Australia, where he was instrumental in driving market share growth and enhancing productivity across the company’s Australia operations. With over 30 years of experience in financial services, he has also held senior management positions at Hartford Life Limited and ING New Zealand.

On his appointment, Mr Lieberman said, “I’m delighted to have joined Transamerica Life Bermuda. The company has established itself as one of the region’s leading experts in the High Net Worth life insurance market and has a reputation for delivering the highest standards of service in the industry. I look forward to working with the team in Hong Kong and Singapore, as well as our business partners throughout the region, to achieve further success in the years to come.”

“Marc and I are committed to a seamless transition. Under Marc’s new leadership, Transamerica Life Bermuda will continue the strong momentum of the past few years, while continuing to deliver exceptional service and high-performing products to partners and customers alike,” said Mr Lieberman’s predecessor, Damiaan Jacobovits de Szeged.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

The people you want to reach are already in this room.

Every quarter, SBR lands on the desks of the founders, CFOs, and directors running Asia's most consequential companies. Every day, they open our newsletter and read our website. It's a room that took twenty years to build — and it's the one most of our partners are trying to get into.

The good news is that the door is open. We work with companies on thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The shape of the right partnership depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If you have something this room should know about, tell us. We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
