Meeting rooms top demand in flex offices
Expectations in spaces are influenced by hybrid work arrangements and employee preference.
Meeting rooms are the most in-demand flex office space feature amongst firms in the Asia Pacific, with Singapore commanding the most premium in flexible office space.
Phone booths and collaboration space are other in-demand uses form flexible office spaces, Savills Research and office specialist Workthere found.
In Singapore, prime desks average around $1,035 (US$800) per month, the study found.
Region-wide, Asia Pacific firms are found to prioritise meeting rooms as strongly as Europe, North America, and UK flex office spaces, their survey showed.
Evolving work patterns, hybrid work arrangements, and employee expectations are influencing corporates’ demand from flex office space, Savills and Workthere said.
“Demand for premium flexible workspace remains resilient across key regional cities, including Singapore, where high-quality fitouts and centrally located space reinforce its role as a regional headquarters hub,” said Piers Mallittle, head of Workthere Asia Pacific, Savills.
On-site gyms, meanwhile, are seen as least important amongst Asia offices, whilst Europe and the UK rate this as of medium importance. America prioritises gyms third to parking spaces and meeting rooms.
Meanwhile, 44% of the city-state employees said they would consider rejoining the workforce if hybrid or flexible work options were available, Censuswide found.
The Ministry for Manpower is working with employers to adopt flexible work arrangements.
