Chart of the Day: Mortgagee sales value jumped 25.3% to $38.5m in 2019

The average ticket size of mortgagee sales almost doubled that of 2018.

This chart from Colliers shows that mortgagee sales value rose 25.3% YoY to $50.1m in 2019, despite seeing a lower number of deals throughout the year.

Colliers noted that the average ticket size of mortgagee sales in 2019 almost doubled that of 2018. The mortgagee sales value accounted for 76.8% of total auction sales value, up from 60.3% in 2018.

The residential sector accounted for 79.2% of the total mortgagee sales value, up 35.3% YoY from 2018. However, retail mortgagee sales saw the highest jump as it surged 71.5% YoY. On the other hand, industrial mortgagee sales fell 10.4% YoY over the same period.

This figure suggests that the increased value in mortgagee sales partly offsets the decline seen in the total auction sales value, which dipped 1.7% YoY to $50.1m in 2019.
