Construction jobs surge 8,700 as tech sector sheds roles

Ministry of Trade and Industry survey confirms massive hiring spike in building and infrastructure.

Employment growth in Singapore in the fourth quarter of 2025 (Q4 2025) was led by services and construction sectors, according to the Ministry of Trade and Industry’s Economic Survey of Singapore 2025.

Construction employment rose by 8,700 in Q4 2025, leading job growth.

Industries classified under other services added 6,400 positions, with administrative and support services up 4,200 and retail and trade jobs added 2,700. Manufacturing employment grew by 2,400 jobs.

Elsewhere in the services sector, food and bevarage added 1,300 jobs, whilst professional services and real estate recorded increases of 1,000 and 700 jobs, respectively.

Some sectors experienced declines, including information and communications and wholesale trade, which each fell by 1,900 jobs, and finance and insurance, which dropped 1,300.

Transportation and storage recorded no net change.

The survey noted that overall employment changes in Q4 reflected continued gains in domestically oriented services and construction sectors.

The people you want to reach are already in this room.

Every quarter, SBR lands on the desks of the founders, CFOs, and directors running Asia's most consequential companies. Every day, they open our newsletter and read our website. It's a room that took twenty years to build — and it's the one most of our partners are trying to get into.

The good news is that the door is open. We work with companies on thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The shape of the right partnership depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If you have something this room should know about, tell us. We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
