Chart of the Day: Housing prices contribution to inflation rate down 0.6 ppt

Housing prices in the CPI basket fell 2.5%.

This chart from Maybank Kim Eng shows housing and utilities prices' contribution to the inflation rate fell to 0.6 ppt in July.

Most components in the CPI basket saw higher prices in July compared to June, except for Housing & Utilities, down 2.5%, and Education, down from 3.2% to 2.8%.

Prices in the Education and Healthcare components' contribution to inflation rose by 0.2 ppt.

Food and Transport components also gave higher contributions to inflation by 0.3 ppt each.

Meanwhile, contribution stayed flat for Recreation & Culture and Miscellaneous Goods & Services.
